The Ascot Group are pleased to share the news of their donation to Somewhere to Go – a fantastic local charity striving to help disadvantaged vulnerable adults. In 2021, their efforts in running the drop-in centre for homeless individuals were rewarded with a gifted space that allowed them to open a charity shop to help raise money for the centre’s resources.
However, the contract for the gifted shop space sadly runs out this June. Without the charity shop’s support, the drop-in centre wouldn’t be able to provide the 25-40 daily meals or offer support for addiction, mental health and housing issues. As such, the team at Somewhere to Go have been working hard to raise the money required to continue running their own charity shop.
Since the pandemic, the demands of the charity have only increased. Barry Edwards, treasurer of the charity, commented: “We get very little financial support, so the shop is a way of generating the revenue needed to continue our drop-in day centre which is absolutely vital to the people we serve.” Supporting our local community is a priority, so working towards helping the charity maintain one of their most relied upon financial support sources is hugely important to us. As such, The Ascot Group have donated £1000 to help with the build of the new shop – kindly received by the charity’s General Manager, Lisa Cooper, last week.
Andrew comments: “This is only the start of The Ascot Group’s commitment towards supporting the charity as we will now begin collecting and donating items ready to donate to Somewhere to Go’s brilliant day centre too. We are so proud of the work Somewhere to Go does for our local community and are dedicated in our support of such a dedicated cause!”.
