Last October, an amazing member of the Ascot Group, Wendy Datson, took on the remarkable challenge of swimming one hundred lengths to help raise money for our 2023 chosen charity Gympanzees. Inspired by the fantastic efforts of our Three Peaks Team last June, Wendy decided to also put her physical strength to the test to help support the Gympanzee mission in providing fully inclusive leisure facilities for disabled children, young people and their families.
Wendy successfully completed the swimming challenge in a fantastic time of 84 minutes and 11 seconds, raising £740 in the process! Wendy shares: “It was wonderful to be able to raise money for such a special cause. I’m so inspired by everything the team at Gympanzees do to support disabled children and young people. As a blind person, I’m thrilled to see a charity so passionate about helping facilitate opportunities for accessibility, awareness and support.”
Wendy’s fundraising efforts will help contribute towards Gympanzees’ ‘Project Home’ appeal for a permanent centre, which will support the 66,000 disabled children and young people within an hour of Bristol get the exercise and sensory integration they need.
