Our MD and founder, Andrew Scott, recently judged a local Dragon’s Den-style event held at Priory Community School Academy in Weston-super-Mare.
The competition which took part over several days formed part of the students Enterprise and Marketing course and provided the students with the fantastic chance to create business proposals for new backpack designs.
Each student pitched their ideas and business plan to the judges and some impressed so much that they were event offered paid work experience placements.
Discussing the experience, Andrew said: “It was a tremendous pleasure to help judge this event. All of the students did a brilliant job and there was some outstanding future talent on show.
“At the Ascot Group we’re always looking to recruit the best talent, and we look forward to meeting many of these students again in the years to come.”
Joe Brand, head of business, said: “The students were fantastic and learned so many skills during the project, including teamwork, marketing, leadership, problem-solving, numerical work, meeting deadlines, and communication.”
The event aimed to identify promising young entrepreneurs in the style of well-known business figures like Deborah Meaden, Lord Alan Sugar, and Jeff Bezos.
