The Ascot Group are thrilled to announce that their sponsored athlete, Lele Nairne, has qualified a second time for the Judo World Championships in Qatar – a premier event of the International Judo Federation world tour.
Lele has been training in Judo for most of her life. At only 25, she has made it to the semi-finals in the 2022 Commonwealth Games, achieved 7th place at her Judo Masters debut, and is ranked 23 overall in the world for her weight category. Similar to the aims and objectives of those in the Ascot Group, she is defined by her relentless ambition and committed work ethic.
Lele will be in Qatar from the 7th-13th of May and is excited to put all her training into action. She shares: “I’m so excited to have been selected for the World Championships once again and to have the opportunity to compete at such an international level.
“My training has followed a tried and tested programme and I’m confident that I’ll be able to compete in my best match to date!
I’m so grateful to all those who have supported me so far. This is only the beginning!”
Lele exists as such an inspiration to all those in Weston – especially young girls. Her efforts are a testament to just how far hard work, determination and resilience can take you.
Andrew Scott, founder and MD of the Ascot Group, further comments:“I have been so impressed by Lele’s determination as a Judoka so far and love her entrepreneurial spirit in how she has sought out sponsors to help support her 2024 Olympic goal.
“Helping Lele fund her training is a privilege. She is an inspiration to all of us here at the Ascot Group and I can’t wait to see all that she will go onto achieve. I know that she will go onto achieve amazing things at the World Championships this May. She truly is a force to be reckoned with.”
This is yet another example of how the Ascot Group works to support its local community. They are also proud to support Gympanzees and Somewhere to Go – Weston Super Mare charities that are providing care and resources to families and individuals in need.
