Ascot Group volunteers make a difference at Somewhere to Go

On Friday 4 October, members of the Ascot Group team swapped their desks for paintbrushes and dustpans as they volunteered at local charity, Somewhere to Go. The day was an incredible success, with the team making a significant impact on the charity’s main shop in Weston-super-Mare.

The team’s efforts included sorting donations, tidying and updating the shop. Their hard work helped to improve the physical appearance of the shop, creating a more welcoming atmosphere for the Somewhere to Go volunteers and their visitors.

Andrew comments: “I can’t express how grateful I am to those who swapped their computer screens on Friday afternoon to help our local Charity Somewhere to Go (S2G).

“S2G is overwhelmed with people who are homeless or vulnerable, often through no fault of their own and a cruel twist of fate. The charity gives much needed respite, a dry safe space and some warm food for hungry people – I am certain it has saved lives.

“What we did on Friday didn’t just massively help the charity, from sorting out donations to painting walls, it was wonderful to bring our own team together in such a fun and positive way.”

Mary Usher-Clark, a trustee at Somewhere to Go, comments: “Thank you to everyone in the team who worked so hard for us throughout the day.

“It can get manic here with so many donations coming in and we often don’t have time to do anything other than sorting through what’s been given. All the painting and ceiling repairs have really moved the shop forward. We want to create a nice environment for our volunteers to work in and you have inspired us to make some changes!”

Committed to supporting local charities, the Ascot Group is planning to return to Somewhere to Go to continue their volunteer work to make a positive difference.
